This badge measures 2 1/4" in length x 1" wide.   The total length, when including the ribbons, is 4 3/4".  This was a press credential  for an IOC meeting prior to the '76 Summer Olympic games in Montreal. This pin is in very good shape with some minor surface wear on the front and a bit more noticeable wear on the backside.  The pin still works perfectly.  The grosgrain yellow ribbon has some soiling to it.  Please see pictures for more detail. The owner of this item, as well as all of the other Olympic memorabilia we have listed and will list, was the Communications Manager for the Denver Organizing Committee (DOC).  The DOC staff and volunteers traveled to Sapporo to attend the Winter Olympics and learn from the Sapporo Organizing Committee.  As you may or may not recall, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) awarded the 1976 Winter Games to Denver in May 1970.  Citing cost and environmental issues, the citizens of Colorado voted down a state-wide ballot to host the games.  Thus, Denver has the distinction of being the first, and only, IOC designated city to reject the Olympics. For the 1976 games, the original owner was at the Olympics in a different capacity, as an NBC television producer. We have other great Olympic memorabilia up for auction.
