Description
olympicman10 Store Rare USA Olympic Team NOC Spinner Pin from the 2008 Summer Olympic Games to be held in Beijing, China. Double standard clasp pin-backs.. New. Mint in original display package. An officially licensed product of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee. The photo shows both sides of the spinner section. A large heavy pin 1 3/4" (44mm) in diameter. Note: This is one of the styles that AMINCO has sold out. Once our small supply is sold, there will not be more available. Because this pin is large and heavy, shipping is a little more than most of my other pins.  2008 Beijing-On 13 July 2001 at the 112th IOC Session in Moscow, Beijing was elected the Host City for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in 2008. The vote followed in line with the recommendation of the IOC Evaluation Commission that a Beijing Games would leave a unique legacy to China and to sports. The Commission is confident that Beijing could organize an excellent Games. A new international sports center city will be created. An international sports center city is a modern sports city to be created with the new sports development concept of serving the urban functions, displaying the city's image and invigorating the city's economy against the background of the globalized economy and the developing sports industry. It will be a part of the unique legacy left by the 2008 Olympic Games to the Chinese and world sports to combine the creation of an international sports center city with the building of Beijing into a modern international metropolis. Beijing plans to create an Olympic Village to lodge 20,000, as well as a 55,000 square meter International Broadcast Center, both located in "Beijing Olympic Town", the center of the XXVI Olympic Games.(see photo) Some of the ambitious venue plans include the Main Olympic Stadium seating 100,000, Aquatic Sports Center seating 20,000, Equestrian Park seating 45,000, and a Basketball Venue which seats 15,000. Except for the Yachting Venue, the most distant venues will be no more than 30 minutes from the Olympic Village. There will be 25 sports on the Olympic Program. Beijing will provide 38 competition venues (29 already existed when Beijing was a Candidate City), and 65 training sites, each approved by the appropriate International Federations/Associations. Games Mark-The official emblem of Beijing 2008 entitled "Chinese Seal-Dancing Beijing" cleverly combines the Chinese seal and the art of calligraphy with sporting features, transforming the elements into a human figure running forward and embracing triumph. The figure resembles the Chinese character "Jing", which stands for the name of the host city and represents a particularly significant Chinese style. The artwork embodies four messages: - Chinese culture, - the color of red China - Beijing welcomes friends from all over the world - to challenge the extreme and achieve the perfect and promote the Olympic motto of "Citius, Altius, Fortius (Faster, Higher, Stronger).  AMINCO Sales Policy-AMINCO is one of the most prominent Olympic pin manufacturers in the world. Every product is officially licensed by the appropriate Olympic committee and by the United States Olympic Committee.  The products are designated for sale only in the United States.  Dealers have recently been notified that the 2008 Beijing pins & sets produced by the company should only be offered for sale within the US.  INTRACO will adhere to that policy. Thanks to the many international customers we have been proud to serve in the past. However, no AMINCO dealer should now offer those products for sale outside the US. We are waiting to hear if the same policy is in effect for the 2010 Vancouver pins. It probably will be, because AMINCO and Artiss-Regina are producing their own lines for sale only in Canada. Shipping-INTRACO has always offered one of the lowest shipping prices in the US and never charged for packing & handling regardless of the number of pins in the orders. Because the USPS has increased prices twice since the combined shipping policy was instituted, we have to raise prices just to keep from losing too much on shipping. Many of the 2008 pins are heavier than other Olympic pins and all are shipped still sealed on the original display cards. The $1.25 combined shipping offer is still in effect for other pins, but not for the 2008 pins. The single pin shipping price is now $1.35 and each additional pin is $0.25 more. If you are buying more than 1 pin, please wait to pay until you are invoiced so that correct combined shipping can be added to the invoice.  Some very heavy or oversized pins and sets may be different. Please see the specific item descriptions for details.
