Description
You are bidding for an unusual aluminium putter by James B. Halley of London. It is stamped on the top of the head with their “Crossed Swords” Trade Mark with an “H” top centre. This mark came into use by them in 1923 and, because it has a hickory shaft it can be dated between that date and around 1930, when steel shafts replaced wooden ones. The shaft goes right through a hole drilled in the head to accommodate it to appear on the underside of the head, in the style developed by Thomas Carruthers of Edinburgh. It has a good leather grip with pitched twine whipping. There is one crack at the top of the hosel, otherwise this club is in good condition. .
