The vote followed in line with the recommendation of the IOC Evaluation Commission that a Beijing Games would leave a unique legacy to China and to sports. The Commission is confident that Beijing could organize an excellent Games. A new international sports center city will be created. An international sports center city is a modern sports city to be created with the new sports development concept of serving the urban functions, displaying the city's image and invigorating the city's economy against the background of the globalized economy and the developing sports industry. It will be a part of the unique legacy left by the 2008 Olympic Games to the Chinese and world sports to combine the creation of an international sports center city with the building of Beijing into a modern international metropolis.
