Description
Following the spectacular crash of Donald Campbell’s K7 Bluebird 4th January 1967 the boat lay at the bottom of Lake Coniston for over 34 years. In early 2001 it was decided the wreck should be recovered by Diver Bill Smith and preserved for future generations to admire. The boat is currently being lovingly restored as authentically as possible to its former glory. The Nelson based Engineering firm, PDS (CNC) Engineering Ltd were chosen to piece back together the space frame of the hull and are proud to have been able to reconstruct the craft using over 95% of the original metal tubing. Steve Harker, a Lancashire impressionist artist, has modelled the K7 in aluminium for us and his superb larger models cast from the original will be on sale shortly. However, here we are selling small miniature models that are hand cast and finished in a rustic aluminium cast metal which is manufactured from the same type of aluminium material as the K7 itself. These models created by the artist and PDS Engineering are part of a limited edition set created to allow the enthusiast and collector alike to share a piece of history with us. We have mounted the models on a chain and key ring for convenience and they come in nice presentation box to make the ideal Christmas present for someone special. A small folded leaflet comes with the key-ring detailing the final moments of the Bluebird on one side and a glimpse into the restoration on the other. This artist’s impression of K7 is approximately 50mm long by 20mm wide. Price 19.99 PDS Engineering Bluebird Models Walverden House Cliffe Street Nelson Lancashire BB9 7QR 01282 619848 The model measures 50mm long by 20mm wide, and comes attached to a small key chain allowing for its use as a key-ring. You are bidding on a single model. Special Thanks go to Bill Smith, and Gina Campbell who made this wonderful project possible.
