Description
Offered is a Little Brown Jug Horse Race collectors plate dating up to 1951. The plate is in good to  condition with only a tiny flea bite in the china on the back, near the rim at about the two o'clock mark. I don't know the actual date of making on this item. I've had it for over twenty years and I found it in my great grandmother's house in Detroit, MI. She died in 1984 and she was in her late 90's. The plate is brown and white and features a nostalgic trotter and driver in the center. Under the driver is a banner which reads, Little Brown Jug, Record 2:11 3/4. Around the edge of the plate are six horses with their date of win and their names. Names include 1946 Ensign Hanover, 1947 Forbes Chief, 1948 Knight Dream, 1949 Good Time, 1950 Dudley Hanover, 1951 Tar Heel. The back of the plate has a short paragraph about the race. It says, The Little Brown Jug, held every year during September in Delaware, Ohio, is the richest pacing race in the world. The Jug was first held in 1946 and is for three year old pacers. The race has gained nation-wide fame and people from all over the United States come to Delaware to witness the classic.   Kettlesprings IlNS...R.D.2 Alliance, Ohio. Happy Bidding.
