Description
Rare / Olympics / Stadium / Baseball / Braves / Sports / ItemThere is no reserve. Shipping charge includes insurance. I accept Pay Pal, and personal checks. I purchased this Collectible in 1998 from a woman who lived in Atlanta and was a part of the Atlanta Olympic Committee. She was moving to Houston and was having a moving sale. Some of the items for sale were hundreds of Olympic collectibles. And some of those Olympic collectibles were one of a kind and/or of a very limited production. She explained to me that President and CEO of the Atlanta Olympic Committee - Billy Payne – received so many gifts, from all over the world, that he had what he called the “Brown Bag Lunch Drawings.” These drawings were for committee members only. A Brown Bag Lunch Drawing was defined as follows: At lunch each day, those committee members having lunch together were given a number on a piece of paper. At the end of the lunch hour Numbers were drawn from a box and those who had a Winning Number could pick any of the available items that were displayed on a table. This is one of those items. We have up for auction a Rare / Olympics / Stadium / Baseball / Braves / Sports collectible. Offered is a framed, and matted, architectural rendering of an unapproved design for the Centennial Olympic Stadium. Unapproved meaning this particular design was a concept offering but was not approved as the final stadium design. Unapproved designs have a greater value than approved designs because they are few in number. My understanding is there are 10 of these. This is from the Atlanta Stadium Design Team and is signed by the 9 Architects that designed it. I honestly have no idea if these are printed or actual signatures. Same goes for the image. With 10 of these in existence I’m thinking this is printed. The image is 8”x 10” and is a separate piece from the signatures. There are 4 architectural firms involved in this project and they are printed under the signatures. They are: Ellerbe Becket, Inc – Heery International – Rosser Fabrap International – and – Thompson Ventulett Stainback and Associates, Inc. Above the signatures is printed: Atlanta Stadium Design Team. After the Olympics were over the Stadium was renamed Turner Field and is today the home of the Atlanta Braves Baseball team. Overall size is: 14.5” x 20.5” The bottom center of the frame has 2 rather deep scuff marks but other than that this is in perfect condition. It has been stored out of sunlight so the image is bright and attractive.
