Worn by the sports great at Santa Anita in 1959 while riding a horse owned by a family aquantance. He did have a picture of Shoemaker wearing this racing silk but we cannot find it among his things. The maker of this racing silk is Lovell. The tag says Colors by Lovell and gives the address of the shop in which it was manufactured. The color is a warm peach color with off-white or cream piping on the sleeves. It has a tiny cream colored bow tie and sewn on button pattern on the front. It has hidden snaps down the front with double snaps at the top of the collorless neckline behind the bow tie. The back has a stylized S with a triangle design surrounding. The item is in excellent condition. It has been worn of coarse and has been stored in the original plastic cover and has hung for many years in a closet.
