Description
This original art piece was created by a new art studio named Baseballcardstories.  The studio has created several original art pieces that are handcrafted and made using only baseball cards.  Every part of the art is a creative use of baseball cards. They are releasing this piece as their tribute Joseph P. Riley Park in Charleston, South Carolina. The home of the New York Yankees affiliated minor league team, the Riverdogs. The park is also home for the Citadel Bulldogs. Baseballcardstories art has several elements.  First, they generate a story told through cards.  Secondly they create a fun and different word description for each work.  Then they create an artistic center that expresses the theme using only the baseball cards.  The story is completed with a collage of player cards representing the history and originality of the work. This particular work measures 32x40 inches. It is named,” Appearing nightly, sinking suns and rising stars”. This is in honor to the glorious sunsets the ballpark offers and the chance to see future stars of the major leagues. The entire piece is made from baseball cards, glue and patience. Some of the highlights include the sign which is part of the iron wrought gate that fans see on entrance to the stadium. The view is a vantage point that allows a fan to see the sunset over the Ashley River and watch the action on the field as well. The stars feature five players that spent time in Charleston; they are Phil Hughes, Carl Crawford, B.J.Upton, Aubrey Huff and Delmon Young. The artists also put cards from every player that made it  to the major leagues, no matter if their appearance was short in either place. The time frame was since the “The Joe” opened in 1997. Some of the other players featured include Josh Hamilton, Rocco Baldelli, Dan Wheeler, Shawn Riggans, Toby Hall, Elijah Dukes, Jorge Cantu, Joey Gathright, James Shields, Andy Sonnanstine and Dallas McPherson. The collage is a combination of the minor league cards and cards from later in their careers in the majors. The work comes with a blue frame that accents the colors very nicely and Plexiglas for protection. It is ready to hang.  Several photos have been used to assist you in getting a feel for the piece but I admit it is impossible to capture the true grandeur and size of the art through pictures.   The studio has dreams that the piece will be donated to a gallery or sports museum that can showcase and share the memories, but that is up to the buyer. The piece would look very stunning hanging in any setting: an office, a lobby or even a restaurant where it could be studied for hours and eye catching.Baseballcardstories is giving a portion of the proceeds to baseball programs that assist underprivileged and disadvantaged youths.Baseballcardstories is also offering the framing and shipping in the continental U.S.A. at no additional charge. Since this is new for me to be selling unique art work I will only be able to accept payment by Paypal and will need payment within three days of the conclusion of the auction. The product will be shipped as soon as possible. Shipping will be limited to the United States.   All sales are final. This is truly a unique and a one of a kind work. The work to conceive the idea, the collection of the cards, the sorting, cutting and placement of the cards was enormous. The winner will have a work that everyone will envy. Fans of baseball, the stadium, minor leagues, Charleston, baseball cards and art will all find this piece to be exciting. The people that have seen this work are speechless. Good luck on the bidding. If you have any questions, please contact me and I will respond quickly.More great news, Baseballcardstories is also releasing 2 additional works at this time.
